Setting up a cyclotron radiopharmacy: Navigating the challenges through two case studies

On February 27th 2024, we were very pleased to have Dr. Richard Freifelder in person in our offices. Dr. Richard Freifelder, Ph.D., is an international expert in radiopharmaceuticals, particularly in cyclotron facilities and nuclear medicine research.

During our live webinar he shared his expertise in setting up cyclotron radiopharmacies by navigating through two case studies: an existing legacy space or a new, green space. Through these 2 scenarios, he delved into the impact of the accelerator's choice, the programmatic goals and regulatory compliance.

Richard Freifelder, Ph.D. is the Cyclotron Facility Program Director at the University of Chicago since 2014. From 2000 to 2014 he was the Cyclotron Facility Manager at the University of Pennsylvania and prior to that position he had 10 years of experience in PET Scanner instrumentation at Penn working with Joel Karp, Ph.D. He has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics (Stony Brook University, 1985).
