San Diego, United States, June 13th, 2016 - IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A., EURONEXT), the world’s leading provider of proton therapy and radiopharmacy solutions, today launches its new Cyclone® KIUBE at the 2016 Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) annual meeting in San Diego, California, United States.
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging procedures play a critical role in medical care today and growing demand for radioisotopes means a greater need for efficiency. This new 18MeV cyclotron is more compact and powerful. It was developed with three keywords in mind, as defined with users: Reliability, High Performance and Flexibility.
The Cyclone® KIUBE* is a true evolutionary cyclotron meaning that production capacity can be increased step-by-step to reach 20 curie of 18F- in a two hour run. With a lower initial investment, hospitals will benefit from the Cyclone® KIUBE’s unique features while maintaining the ability to increase capacity over time.
With a small footprint of less than 100m² (1,070 square feet) and self-shielding option, IBA experts designed the world’s most optimized (c)GMP PET center.

The first unit of the Cyclone® KIUBE has been selected and successfully shipped at the University hospital of Brussels (UZ Brussel) in Belgium. The extension of their radiopharmacy is currently in installation phase.
